The Effect of Exercise on Pregnancy Print E-mail

Baby Excercise

IN the recent past there were concerns about the safety of exercising while pregnant.  In fact, it wasn’t that long ago that the advice to expecting mothers was to sit back and rest for fear of losing their babies.

This seems a bit odd to me, when you consider that our predecessors lived much more physically active lives than we, and yet managed to reproduce just fine, or we wouldn’t be here to talk about it!

Unfortunately, I find that there are still some care providers today that are advising healthy pregnant women to sit still and take it easy.  In fact, I often am contacted by women, who are seven months or more along; time and again, they ask,

“Is it okay to walk during my last trimester?”

WHEN you consider the physical exertion of labor and birth you realize that it’s never too early for the expectant mother to start training for the big event.  Additionally, the more time you have to learn about pregnancy, labor, birth, and breastfeeding, the better prepared you will be, insha’Allah.  All of this equates a healthier pregnancy and baby, better birth experience, and the best possible start in life for your new baby.

NUTRITION in pregnancy is the single most important factor in determining the outcome for both the mother and baby.  Fortunately, it is also the factor mothers have the most influence over.

Life begins as microscopic drops of paternal bodily fluids.  In just nine months it blossoms into a fully functioning human being, masha’Allah.  Allah has designed the blueprint for each baby to reach full potential and built in safety nets for labor and birth to protect both mother and child.  The mother’s role to ensure her baby reaches its full potential and to maximize birth’s safety nets lies in her attention to good nutrition throughout pregnancy.

HAVE you ever been a few days away from menstruation, and you can tell you are about to have your period based on how you feel? Some women experience this phenomenon strongly, and others don’t, but there is a very valid reason for why women tend to have extra emotions during that time of the month.

DURING my first pregnancy, I knew very little about childbirth and was pretty much clueless as to how I would get through it all. I knew I needed a coach and I knew I wanted my husband to fulfill that role.
