JEDDAH: The Hajj Expo, we had earlier announced, was an informational outlet for people looking to know about the annual pilgrimage that sees millions of people coming from all corners of the globe. The background and purpose of the spiritual journey as well as its rites were explained in this event organized entirely by women (quite a shame on us, men!).

The ladies branch of Islamic Education Foundation at Al-Hambra district organized a Hajj expo at the Red Sea Mall last week. As the pictures show, there were panels, books, and models explaining the various aspects of Hajj to Muslims and non-Muslims.

Saudi Life had the opportunity on Friday to speak to Amatullah J. Bantley, owner of Abul-Qasim Publications, who was invited by the Islamic center to have her bookstall here.

“It’s an introduction as well to non-Muslims that there are verses in the Bible that specifically talk about Hajj rites,” she said.

While the small expo was full on some days and not-so-full the other days, at least four-to-five non-Muslims genuinely wanting to know about Islam would visit everyday, she said.
