holding-earth

By Waad Arif | A 16-year-old Saudi female member of the Saudi Life community.

Thank you so much Waad for contributing this beautiful piece!

IF I were the president:

1. I would try to end world hunger.

2. I would end the war in Iraq. I would also find ways to end wars and make peace work.

3. I would love to have a national kids day.

4. I would stop destruction of animal habitats and lower gas prices.

5. I would let everyone aged 15 and above get free cell phones.

6. I would help the economy and stop global warming.

7. I would do things that would help make the earth a better place.

8. I would plant more trees.

9. I would ban smoking tobacco, weed and other drugs.

(Such nice thoughts Waad, Masha Allah :-) Thumbs up for you! – SL ed.)

10. After I do that I would through the biggest party ever.

11. I would make every school in the world teach the teachers.

12. On the fun side, I'd invite my favorite bands and we'll have a Rockstar party.

(Come on Waad, can’t you think of something better and Halaal for fun? :-) – SL ed.)

13. I would serve the country I love by making things better, not worse.

14. The Israeli-Palestinian crisis has been going on for years. I would put them together and let them talk. Why hasn't anyone done that yet? Sometimes, the simplest solution is the best one.

15. I would stop terrorist attacks in a few days.

16. I'd create millions of high paying jobs with renewable power plant construction.

17. I would also make sure that every family that's struggling financially receives assistance without feeling ashamed.

18. I would have health insurance for anyone.

19. I would find more ways to help people with a disability.

20. I would see that victims of natural disasters receive better assistance.

21. I would fix up all the closed hotels and motels for the poor.

22. I would try to make people understand that a size two is not the perfect way to be. :P

23. I wouldn’t need all the money that they usually get.

24. I would give schools money to have things like good art, music, theater, science labs, after school programs, computers and sport equipment. I would also encourage schools to find healthier lunch programs including organic foods.

(We love your ideas Waad! They’re super cool! Let’s just leave the music out, please? – SL ed.)

25. I wouldn't let illegal immigrants enter our country and I'd make sure that we had good border control.

26. I would put recycle bins and trash cans in public places.

(Superb!)

27. Force traders to pay Zakat.

28. Try to change everything to the way they think it should be.

30. I would try to focus on issues that I think are important, like helping needy people, education, healthcare, etc.

31. I would make all exams easy! Sorry guys, we need to learn but all exams should be EASY so we can love the subject and love to learn.

32. I would put every educated, intelligent person with an open mind at a high position. Sometimes they give a stupid man a high position just because he comes from a big family! This problem is especially here in Riyadh. NO OFFENCE!

33. Let women drive at the age of 30, hehe!

34. I would be very humble to my people. I would act like them, walk with them, talk to them and listen to their problems.

35. I would lower prices.

36. I would open a cinema but not mixed. I mean one for women and another one for men and that’s it!!

37. I would make more of places of fun here – for girls as well as for boys.

38. I would end mixed parties!!!!!

39. I'll open my door to my people without intermediary or mediator.

40. I will take care of social situations.

41. I would accept advice and suggestions from anyone, even from a young boy in the street.

42. I would draw a smile on the faces of all students, hehe!

43. I would help orphans and would love to adopt them.

44. I would OF COURSE spread Islam all over the world and teach people about it and make it STRONGER.

45. I would support every talented kid here.

46. I would give everyone who finishes college $30,000 to build his own life.

47. I would OF COURSE give money to the homeless.

48. I will cry in the middle of the night hoping that I didn’t do any wrong to my people and hoping that I didn’t make a single young boy or girl CRY ='). I would pray all night and hope that I would do my best with everyone. Oh and sooooo much more but this is what’s on my mind right now.

Although women can’t do that here, but let us dream a little bit =)

Would you nominate me and vote for me to be your president? =D

Pretty stupid, for the most part. The list does explain, however, why some 16-year old girls should not be in charge of anything, even their own lives. Obviously the young lady has no idea of reality or human nature, much less of politics or economics.

Help the environment yet give out free cell phones to 15 year olds? No offence but your views are contradicting with each other. xD

And Saudi Arabia is a country reigned over by Monarchs; But here's a suggestion: why don't you start a Youth Club of some sort? You can be president there, Cheers! =D
