jardan-webI MET Mr. Abdullah Al-Jardan seven years ago to do a study for a project. Since then we have been associated in a variety of business deals and talks. I found that Mr. Jardan had a vision for growth and saw the reality of Saudi Arabia's business scenario. I am sure many people would like to know where Saudi Arabia is heading with current changes. To get an unbiased view based on reality, I chose to pose my questions to Mr. Jardan.

Mr. Jardan is CEO of Najm Al Jazira Contracting company of Al Arrab Group. He has extensive experience in one of the KEY areas of development : Water and Power.

1. How long have you been working professionally?

For the past 15 years.

2. In all these years, how much growth have you witnessed in KSA?

5-8% annually

3. As a Saudi professional, how do you assess the local work force?

Still weak and needs more push from all sectors (Government & Private).

4. How vital is the expatriate work force in your view?

They are very active and focal and need to utilize their advantages and experts.

5. Do you feel that KSA is moving in a direction that will cause more modernization of society?

Absolutely

6. What is your advice to the Saudi youth?

Look for the real opportunities in the market and do not wait for the government’s help

7. What kind of projects do you think are missing in this market?

General & Logistics services

8. Do you feel more can be done to encourage foreign investment?

Yes, especially in high tech and logistics

9. Do you believe that most expatriates understand the Saudi people?

No

10. Where do you see KSA in 10 years?

(Toward becoming a) 2nd world class (country)

11. How do you feel about the sudden urgency to hire female professionals?

It is not sudden, it is just being focused nowadays.

I do agree with mr Jardan that Expats do not understand Saudi people .Further i would like to add that i have not come across any Expat who is enough keen to understand and amalgamate his communication levels with Saudi communication level!
